Simple As Could Be

Time To Make Time For Yourself

Do you feel like you just don’t have enough time in the day? Rhetorical question. The better question would be who does feel like they have enough time in the day? Well, I know it’s something you hear all the time, but we all have the same 24 hours. Yes, I’m aware that you’re aware of that.

But how can we use this information to our advantage? For starters, we can remember that the next time we’re giving ourselves a guilt trip about not getting enough done. But I’ve also got a few hacks that I use when I need that extra help, and maybe they can help you too.

Set A Reminder

Do you ever feel like you’re going non-stop and all of a sudden you look at the time and your day is basically over? Not only that, but do you feel like you still have so much to take care of and you have no idea where time went? Here’s my hack: Set yourself reminders! This one might sound simple, but it’s a little trickier than you’d think. First off, you do need to remember to set alarms. Better yet, you can come up with your own unique way of reminding yourself!

On days where I’m working on a lot of things, I’ll set reminders on my phone to take care of things. If I need to eat, (don’t judge) I’ll set a reminder. Even if I have been sitting too long, I’ll set reminders to get up and get moving! It’s honestly a great way to stay on top of timing. Plus I get the important things done at the end of the day!

Write It Down

Do you ever feel like you have no idea where your time went? Where you really felt like you weren’t able to get that much done even though you were doing stuff all day? Here’s my next hack: Time yourself! For one week, write down every single thing you did and how long you did it.

When you come home from work, jot down everything you do from when you get home until you go to bed. If you spent 2 hours on Instagram catching up or an hour making dinner, write it down. If you work from home, write down everything you did that day (this one’s a bit harder). The point of this is to see where your time is really going. You might be surprised, I was!

Plan It Out

This one is probably the easiest hack of them all, but most people dread the thought of it. If you have the power to plan how your day (or week) will go, why aren’t you taking full advantage of it? It truly helps me know what I have time for (realistically) and what I should try to work into a different day. You get better as you go too! You start to learn how long it takes to get somewhere, better gauge how long you’ll be somewhere, and learn how to save time in the process.

I personally love planning, and those who know me well know that I can be slightly gung-ho when it comes to it. But I sincerely believe it really can help out everyone! Whether it helps your sanity like it does mine, or it helps you become more on top of your day and your priorities, see where it takes you! And as with a lot of things in life, start small. The better you get at the smaller things, the more prepared you are to tackle larger tasks.

Time Flies

If you find yourself (like most of us) running low on time, try out one of these hacks. You can even call me out if it doesn’t help you in any sort of way! Or list one of your own time hacks in the comments to help inspire more Mommas! You could be the person who brings value into someone else’s life!

Thank you so very much for being a part of ETM’s community of Mommas! We encourage you to join discussions, interact with Mommas alike, and be unapologetically yourself! Until next time, I hope I’m able to help make your life as simple as could be. (:

With all my love, Brandolyn – Earth to Momma
