How To Ward Off (Or Fight Off) The Fall Sniffles

When cold weather comes, so can the cold. And with the way these past couple years have gone, no one really wants to take any chances. But, sometimes, even with all the precautions we take, we still can’t come out on top every time. Which is why this article is about how to ward off and fight off the sniffles. It’s a really short and easy one this week folks, as I’m hoping to keep it as digestible and memorable as possible! *And it’s probably worth mentioning, the same applies for Little Ones too!

So without further ado, let’s get to it!

Supplements

Cold weather has a way of messing with our bodies, in more ways than we might think of. And one of those ways is tampering with our immune systems. You know, one of the main components of our bodies that keeps us healthy. And whether or not our immune system is already shot, supplements are a great way to help ward off and fight off! From keeping our systems active and ready, to bringing our systems back to a place where it’s able to do its job. And I’m not going to give a long list of examples of what you should be taking, because we’re all different! Find what works for you, or what your body might be lacking, and keep up on it. *Another thing that I try to remember to help my body keep in its best shape – Eat or drink the rainbow! You get different vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from each thing!

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

I’m sure you know by know how much the cold weather can dry our skin out. And no, I don’t have the scientific explanation behind why. What I do have is one piece of advice: stay hydrated! Drink plenty of fluids – obviously water is the best choice. Not only does this help our skin, but it’s also the best way to ward off and fight off the sniffles – aka the cold. Our bodies are made up primarily of water, so it’s important to replace it when we lose it! Especially in times where it’s draining or flowing out of our bodies due to circumstances that are out of our control. From our largest organ to our smallest, staying hydrated is key. My lips don’t get as cracked when I’m hydrated. My skin doesn’t start to get flaky as fast. I don’t get headaches as often. And when I’m sick, water is life! I can’t explain a better feeling than soothing a dry and sore throat!

Rest

Our bodies do amazing things! And one of the coolest things about them is that they truly know what they’re doing if we allow them to do their job. Which can be as easy as rest! Sleep, meditation, massages, you name it. Anything that helps your body function in the way that it’s supposed to, but better. It’s a no-brainer for me! I take a vocal break (like singers do!) to allow my internal components to heal and regenerate. I take a physical break by taking it easier when I don’t feel good to allow my body to recover and get back to a healthier state. And massages are my favorite way to show thanks to my body for all that it does for me on a daily basis! I don’t get them very often, but when I do, I walk out feeling calm yet energized! Meditation is a hard one for me, but I’m working on that. And sleep is one of the absolute best ways to let time pass while my body does, well, what it does best!

So Worth It!

Ward, fight, or just to stay in tip-top shape, these are 3 things that will leave you feeling healthier no matter what! So give it a go and let me know what changes you feel in the comments! And don’t forget to tune in next week for a new episode in ETM’s monthly series! And as always, thank you so very much for being a part of ETM’s community! I encourage you to join discussions, interact with Mommas and others alike, and be unapologetically yourself! Until next time, I hope I’m able to help make your life as simple as could be. (:
