Simple As Could Be

3 Things That Can Make Any Woman Feel Beautiful

Do you know off the top of your head what makes you feel beautiful? You know that feeling of invincibility from being so confident in who you are? I know it may seem easy, but when I try to put it into words myself I can’t seem to pin it down. I know the feeling, but I’m almost not sure of what really sparks it.

A song came on the other day that made me start to think about this and ask myself, “What makes me feel beautiful?” If you’ve heard the song Most Girls by Hailee Steinfeld, then you might know why I started thinking about all this. How there is no wrong answer, and maybe even multiple answers.

Do you feel beautiful all dressed up? Or do you feel beautiful lounging in sweatpants? Or maybe it’s simply being a Momma? Whatever it is, we all have something that makes us feel smart and strong and beautiful! So I took some time to write down the 3 things that make me feel most beautiful, so I can focus on making sure there’s more of it in my life! Here they are.

‘Comfortable’ Clothing

Most of the time, I feel most beautiful when I am in between ‘all dressed up’ and ‘lounge wear’. In other words – comfortable clothing. I like somewhat form-fitting clothing, like tighter jeans and shirts. But I also like some looser clothing like long cardigans and maxi skirts/dresses. And I honestly feel like everyone has a clothing style they feel most comfortable in or even most sexy in.

Whether feeling most comfortable or most sexy is more fitting to what makes you feel beautiful, then rock that! Whether it’s baggy sweatshirts with leggings and sneakers, or dresses with jean jackets and chunk heels, or jeans with a tank top and a cardigan. Which BTW, I have worn and still wear all of those clothing options. Sometimes I feel better in some more than others, and sometimes it changes.

The point is to find your style. Yes, it will change over time. Mine is always changing it seems like. But that’s because I’m always changing! And I’ve found that when I wear what feels best on me and what I feel best in, I’m more vibrant, I’m more energetic, and I’m more happy overall. So just find what feels best to you!

Experiences

I’ve had two experiences that I can think of off the top of my head that have made me feel beautiful. One is when I was younger. I was a tad bit overweight for my size. My doctor had told me I was gaining too fast and needed to do something about it. So I got serious about exercise, and I mean really serious. (The reason this blog is late today is because I made sure to take the time for my workout after I got off my 8 hour shift today. I’m that serious!) But after putting in the work, mentally and physically, the first time I wore a bathing suit actually made me feel beautiful! I felt confident in my own skin! Not to say there’s still days when I need to work on it, but it’s a huuugee improvement from where I used to be!

Another experience I had was when a photographer reached out to me to ask if I would be a model for a project she was working on. I’m sure you’re probably thinking I would’ve jumped at the opportunity, but I was actually really nervous. I had no idea what I was doing. I wasn’t sure if I wanted my pictures out there for the public eye to judge. But I did it anyway and told myself that I would use it as an experience to gain self-confidence at the least. And a little bit to my surprise, when I saw the finished product, I saw myself in a whole new light! I literally thought to myself, “Wow, I look like that?”

There are all sorts of experiences that can make us humans feel beautiful. And speaking 100% honestly, I have a better intuition of how women can feel beautiful over men, obviously. From becoming a mom, to doing a boudoir photo shoot, and all sorts of things in between! There really is no limit on what kind of experience can make a person feel beautiful! So find the thing that makes you feel that way, and please do it!

The Cliché

It’s not what we should rely on but being told that we’re beautiful is a warm feeling. Especially when we expect it the least! Obviously I’m saying we shouldn’t rely on it because we shouldn’t seek validity in others opinions. But every once in a while, it can make us take a step back and truly see ourselves for how we really look. Which is always beautiful!

It could be a friend telling me that they think I look cute when I feel like I look like s**t. Or it could be my fiancé telling me that sometimes he looks past how beautiful I am and something I did or am wearing reminds him. It could be a stranger making a comment as we’re passing each other by.

There are so many more times I can think of where someone else has helped to remind me of the true beauty I have that I might sometimes forget about. And like I said, it’s not good for us to look for others to find us beautiful. But it helps to remind us to see ourselves for who we are. Instead of the hundreds of little flaws we focus on that no one else even notices!

Christina Aguilera

There’s another song I think about that reminds me to ask myself, “What makes me feel beautiful?” I’m sure you know it based on the caption above, and it’s true for each and every one of us like I’ve said. We’re all beautiful in every single way. We’re all beautiful, no matter what anyone else says.

So what makes you feel beautiful? Let us know in the comments below! And the next time you think someone is beautiful, let them know! And if you’re in need of some more inspiration to look at yourself the way you truly are, check out ETM’s blog here.
