Simple As Could Be

The Best FREE Resources For The Stressed Out Parent

A lot of the time the best thing is short, sweet, and to the point. I recently saw a meme about how food bloggers write a 10-page essay before getting to the actual recipe. Well, I may not be a food blogger, but I am guilty of that.

And knowing Mommas are the number one visitor checking out my blog, I also know they don’t have a lot of extra time. Between work (whatever that entails for them) and taking care of kids and all the other stuff they have in between, they just need resources.

And with that, the 3 main things I think Mommas need the most help with is resources for learning, for feeding, and for childcare. Plain and simple, here they are!

Learning And Activities

Whether you’ve got a little Little One around, or a Little One who can’t go to their school as often as they used to, there are some great activities to not only help keep them entertained but to help them learn and grow as well!

This article from Good Housekeeping is chalked full of great ideas that are awesome for a Momma on a budget too. From color matching and building to shapes and numbers, and also some fun science experiments too, this will have your Little One(s) busy for hours!

But if you’re a Momma who doesn’t necessarily have the time to buy the supplies, and you do have a printer and coloring utensils, you’re in luck! Wee Gallery, one of the incredible companies I’ve partnered with at Earth To Momma, has over 25 fun activities FREE of charge! Check ’em out here.

Feeding And Nutrition

During COVID, a lot of families have struggled making ends meet. And that includes feeding their families. But with one of ETM’s core values being to help out children who need it the most, this isn’t okay in my book.

If you’re finding that you’re having trouble at all getting food on the table for your family, (especially when schools were the major provider of food for certain kids) Child Care Aware of America has the resources for you!

The Meals For Kids site finder is the best tool to help locate food to help feed your family within miles of your location. It’s for the entire United States and is updated every so often so if you can’t find something, (which is rare) check back! And don’t forget you can always apply for assistance through your local SNAP and WIC programs – the FFCRA provided additional resources to support an increase in program participation.

Childcare

Last but not least – childcare. It’s no surprise childcare has become increasingly difficult for parents to have. From being an essential worker to closures to at-risk family members, there’s no shortage of need though.

And if you find yourself in this tricky situation, there’s hope! Care.com is a site I’ve personally used to get nanny/babysitting jobs. But it’s changed a whole lot since its inception! Now there are tools to help find anything from childcare to school support to help with special needs.

But I’m aware that it does cost money. You could try using their free trial option and cancelling before you get charged, but if you don’t like that idea, there’s Child Care Aware of America again! With this state-by-state resource map, parents can find all kinds of childcare related info.

Short, Sweet, And To The Point

I know these are difficult times that we’re all facing, some more difficult than others. But we really can get through the toughest of times if we can just stick together as a community. And please remember, I’m always an email away! I’ll always find a way to help in whatever ways I can.

What about you? Have you found certain resources for help that I didn’t mention? List them in the comments below! Let’s stick together and make it through this! And if you’re someone who is looking for more info, check out ETM’s blog here.

As always, thank you so very much for being a part of ETM’s community! I encourage you to join discussions, interact with Mommas and others alike, and be unapologetically yourself! Until next time, I hope I’m able to help make your life as simple as could be. (:

With all my love, Brandolyn – Earth To Momma
