Simple As Could Be

3 Simple Things We ALL Can Do

Okay, before I get too far into this post, I need to say that it is going to be pretty opinionated. So if you don’t want to go any further, I totally understand! But if you are feeling overwhelmed with everything revolving COVID-19, keep reading to find out about 3 simple things you (and all of us) can do to get through this.

Starting with staying calm. Well, okay, that’s not one of the 3 things I’m about to list. But it is one of the most important! So, let’s get right in.

Stay Home (If You Can)

I’m not saying to panic and start thinking the worst case scenario, but there really is power in numbers. If everyone who isn’t completely essential in fighting this crisis were to stay at home, and I mean actually stay at home, imagine how much we could slow the spread of the virus.

I get there are workers who we need to continue to work in order to get through this. Medical staff, pharmacy techs, grocery store clerks. But in my opinion, that’s really it. Yes, maybe some gas stations, but not all of them are essential.

I also completely understand the financial burden this puts on a lot of people, but like I said, we’re in this together! This will not be an easy battle by any means, but we have the power to be real life superheroes and save lives. How cool is that?

Be There For Others

As I said, this situation puts many of us into financial hardships, but it can also put some of us into other hardships. Some people are disabled and not able to get things for themselves as easily as others. Some people have issues they were dealing with before any of this started and it’s actually gotten much worse.

So if you find yourself in a position to help others in this time of need, no matter what kind, please do it! It could be finding a much needed supply in your town and shipping it to a loved one in need. Or it could be making sure an elderly member in your family has a good source of food and heat.

Some food businesses that have closed down temporarily are donating their food to shelters or local schools. (Some local schools are still providing meals to families in need because that is the only source of food they had to begin with.) Any act of kindness, no matter how small, will not go unnoticed during this time!

Stay Clean

If you haven’t heard to wash your hands by now, what rock have you been living under? No seriously, good job at self-quarantining. Get back under that rock and ride this out. Otherwise, if you are washing your hands as often as you can (and should) be, why stop there?

Think about incorporating some new routines into your life temporarily. Maybe do a deep clean of your house once a week and wipe down counters, sweep and mop floors, etc. Or make it a point to wipe down high-traffic areas at least once a day.

I know laundry can be expensive, but simple laundry detergent is enough to fight off the virus. So maybe consider keeping clothes that have been out and about in a specific (contained) area until you have a full load to wash. Just find ways that feel comfortable and safe to you!

Stay Calm And Stick Together

Like I said, we are going to get through this together. But we have to make it a point to work together in order to do that! These aren’t the only things we can be doing to help fight COVID-19, but they really are 3 simple things that most of us can start doing right now!

What are some things you’ve done to feel safer and help #flattenthecurve? List them below! You can be a real life superhero and help others save lives too! And if you’re looking for ideas on how to stay calm right now, check out ETM’s blog here.
