Whether you’re a male or female, married or single, parent or not – Everyone could use a little ‘me time’ every now and then. But a lot of times, we’re so busy putting others first that we don’t seem to have enough energy or drive to focus on ourselves. If we could just learn to find the time to prioritize, well, our priorities, we might discover that we have enough energy to go ’round!
Not only is ‘me time’ healthy for our brains, but for our bodies and emotions too! Here’s the 3 most important reasons, in my opinion, that carving out a little ‘me time’ is really that important.
Recharge & Reboot
From goal-setting to plain old downtime, the intention is to allow yourself the time and space to do the thinking and problem-solving you need to do without the risk of overload. Or even to clear your head of everything for a brief time! Whether it’s 5 minutes a day or 30 minutes once a week, finding the time to listen to your own thoughts and needs can go a long way when it comes to feeling refreshed and ready to tackle what comes next!
See More Clearly
We live in a world and time where we are constantly being pulled outward in many different directions. And fast! Other people, the media, the demands of family, work, and other tasks of daily life. But what if we were to try to go inward instead? By taking a step away from it all, what could we learn or see more clearly about ourselves?
Discover & Create
When we’re alone, it gives our brains the opportunity to think, dream, and aspire. Don’t forget the quote, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”. So practice doing nothing! Your need for enjoyment and relaxation is just as important as your need to get through the to-do list. But truly take the time to be alone in your thoughts to discover what’s there!
It Takes Time
Relationships with others need work and time to be built, right? It’s the same thing with your relationship with yourself! You can’t just expect to understand yourself right away. And that’s okay! By learning to take a little ‘me time’ here and there, your relationship with yourself will grow and benefit.
