Simple As Could Be

3 Ways To Regain Control Of Your Anxiety And Your Life

Anxiety. It can be crippling. It can take over your entire mind and body. Anxiety can be having a hard time breathing, or getting hot and flushed, or even having to pee 10 times without actually having to pee.

It can cause us to screw up the project we’re working on because we’re so preoccupied in our minds. It can cause us to give less attention to our loved ones because we ‘just have so much going on’.

But how can we get past it? How can we take the power back from our anxiety? Well it’s a lot easier said than done, but I do have 3 tricks that help me personally that might be able to help you too. But I really want to remind you that mindset has a lot to do with any of it being successful.

Live In The Moment

Have you ever had times in life where it seems like everything is being thrown at you at once? Where you have so much to do but don’t know how in the world you will get it all done? I feel like this sometimes, and it’s completely overwhelming.

And when I start feeling like this, my personal life can take the back burner. But I don’t like when my friends and family and even my wedding planning get put off and off and off… So I decided that even if I don’t think I can find a way to hang out with friends, or have a date night – family or romantic, I need to create a way.

Which means even if it’s 9 at night when this is supposed to be published today, I’m sitting here typing it up while my best friend is sitting next to me watching a movie. What can I say? It’s life and it’s messy, but I am starting to realize I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Let It Be

Realizing that I have a lot, and ironically, not very much control over my own life can leave me feeling exhausted just thinking about it. I have a lot of control over my life because I am the one who makes the choices I make. Okay, I get it. But I also lack control in some parts of my life.

I can’t control the way others react to my choices or even how they make their choices. I can’t control the environment I was raised in as a child or even the environment in general. But for as much as I can’t control, I know I can control how I choose to let it affect me.

When I step back, I realize that there is more to the whole picture than what I have control over. And I realize that I have so much more to live for than worrying and stressing! So when it comes down to it, I either change what I can or learn to let it be.

ALWAYS Be Yourself

One of the most important ways I have chosen to combat my anxiety is to be more self-confident. I know it sounds cheesy, but it’s harder than it might look! When you have anxiety, it’s hard to feel confident in the way you look, the choices you make, your thoughts, etc.

But something in me lately has inspired me to be more aware of my thoughts. Let me explain: I can’t always be there to catch myself when I’m having a negative thought, but when I do, I flip the script. If I’m questioning why I didn’t do better or prepare more or whatever it may be, I’ll ask myself how I could’ve known to.

How could I have done better if I didn’t know what was wrong? How could I have prepared more when I just found out what was necessary? And why am I giving myself such a hard time when I don’t have these thoughts about others? In the end, I think it might be easier to be myself, make my choices, and just live the way that feels best to me!

It’s All Under Control

Like I said, it really has a lot to do with mindset. There are days when it seems really hard to get out of that funk, but these tips have helped me more than I can explain. I highly suggest you try incorporating at least one of them and see what happens!
